I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2019 - 2020 school year. I hope that you have enjoyed your summer and are ready and excited to the new year started.
As we get started on the new school year, I want to share my expectations. Many of you already know that we are a New Jersey and a National School of Character. This year we are up for renewal of that distinction. We will continue to grow our character education program and along those lines you can expect your child to be held to the highest standards academically as well as socially and emotionally. The staff and I will be working in a positive, encouraging, yet disciplined manner to help of all of our students reach their full potential. We will be striving to develop children who are successful in the classroom as well as outside the classroom. Our honors program continues to expand as we offer more opportunities for our students to grow academically. We also offer a number of extra-curricular activities in which I highly encourage our students participate.
There are some exciting new changes coming to our school this Fall. We have been able to “cluster” all of our students in both seventh and eight grade. Our seventh graders are in either the black or gold cluster, while the eight graders will be in either red or white. This change will allow our staff to work collaboratively to help each of our students. We have also changed the structure of our lunch periods; our eighth graders will eat during period five and our seventh graders will eat during period six. Additionally, we will be using the LinkIt! data collection platform as a means to measure the growth of our students throughout the school year.
Our facilities have received an upgrade over the summer as well. Our old, rubber gymnasium floor has been replaced with a beautiful hardwood floor emblazoned with our black and gold WM in the center.
I suggest that our parents get involved with their child’s experience by communicating with his or her teachers, and discussing the things that took place during their day. Also please visit our website often and refer to our Honeywell Instant alerts for important information throughout the school year.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to seeing you all in September. Please remember that Macopin’s Back to School Night is October 2nd.
