Accuplacer Information

ACCUPLACER

What is the Accuplacer?

ACCUPLACER is a set of tests that determines a student's  knowledge in math, reading and writing in preparation for enrollment in college-level courses.   ACCUPLACER is used to identify a student's  strengths and weaknesses in each subject area.   There are interactive on line learning tools available that can help students improve their skills . The results of the ACCUPLACER assessment is used by academic advisors and counselors to determine your placement in appropriate college courses that meet your skill level.  This includes determination of whether or not a student may need to take remedial courses.

Who uses the Accuplacer tests?
ACCUPLACER assessments are used by many colleges & universities to assess student readiness & skills.  Your college/university of enrollment will advise you as to whether or not you will need to take the ACCUPLACER.    Some colleges/universities will waive the ACCUPLACER assessment based on a set SAT or ACT score.

How do I make an appointment to take ACCUPLACER?
To schedule your ACCUPLACER appointment, please contact or stop by your institution’s advising and counseling office. If you are not close to your campus, call your institution’s advising and counseling office for a testing alternative.
